Submitting unverified or improperly translated documents is one of the most common reasons for visa processing delays. Embassies require certified proof that your legal documents are authentic.
What is an Apostille?
An Apostille is an official certificate attached to your original documents (such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or police clearances) by your home country’s designated authority, confirming their validity under the Hague Convention.
Degree Recognition (Anabin Database & ZAB)
When applying for work-based visas, your degree must be recognized as equivalent to a local degree:
- Check if your university and degree program hold an ‘H+’ status on official recognition databases like Anabin.
- If not explicitly listed, apply for a Statement of Comparability (ZAB) prior to your visa appointment.
Certified Sworn Translations
All foreign language documents must be translated into the target country’s official language by a recognized, sworn translator. Original documents and sworn translations must always be presented together during embassy interviews.
